Our amazing first cohort of Afghan women refugees! These women were the first in a year long project in partnership with Jewish Family Services (JFS) where Project Feast committed to training 15 recent refugees from Afghanistan. JFS provided intake and case management while also offering digital literacy and driving lessons. Concurrently, the women enrolled in our Culinary Skills Training Apprenticeship where they worked alongside staff to gain experience working in a commercial kitchen. As our first group of apprentices from Afghanistan, we also had the pleasure of learning about Afghan cuisine from these wonderful cooks. As a special project, Kausar Ahmed, our former chef instructor who worked closely with these women, compiled recipe books featuring their stories and delicious recipes.
